City Health International Conference Registration Open
Registration for the Second City Health International Conference is now open. The conference will be held on 4-5 November 2013 in Glasgow Science Centre (Glasgow, Scotland) and is organised by Turning Point Scotland and the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations.
City Health 2013 provides the opportunity to demonstrate the leading role that cities play in addressing health issues associated with a large, complex, diverse, shifting population on a daily basis. It has a special focus on health behaviours and factors affecting health - including alcohol, sex, drugs, smoking, nightlife, entertainment venues, mental health, violence, tourism, food and diet, housing and migration, along with consideration of the future challenges for creating healthy cities and a healthy public.
Panel to discuss access to treatment and social rehabilitation of people who use drugs
Representatives of government, public and international organisations of Tajikistan will gather at a round-table to discuss the access to treatment and social rehabilitation of people who use drugs. The round-table will take place on June 18, 2013 at the conference hall of “Istiklol” hotel in Dushanbe. The event is a joint initiative of the State Drug Control Agency under the President of Tajikistan and AIDS Foundation East-West (AFEW).
The round-table is dedicated to the International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking and will focus on the issues around drug use: blood borne diseases, treatment and rehabilitation for people who use drugs. Government organisations will present the current epidemiological situation on HIV and tuberculosis and look at the legislation related to provision of rights to healthcare and social support to people who use drugs.
