Through the Culture Initiative, AFEW International will familiarize young professionals in the Netherlands and other conference delegates attending AIDS 2018 with the Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA) region and its specific HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and viral hepatitis health issues.
A call for visual and performing artists from the EECA region has been launched. Artists are asked to reflect on current public health matters related topics (e.g. affected communities, stigma and discrimination, community health). The Culture Initiative has been set up to increase the dialogue between ‘the West’ and ‘the East’ in tackling overarching global social and economic phenomena in the field of public health.
