Dutch public relations firm decides to support AFEW

Amsterdam, the Netherlands (24.01.2012) – Dutch public relations firm DoPro decided it will transfer a certain percentage of its income to AIDS Foundation East-West (AFEW) starting 2012 as part of the firm’s corporate social responsibility commitments.

“Given the special ties that DoPro’s founder Marcel Capray has with Russia and its neighboring countries, the choice was AFEW – an NGO that carries out projects in Eastern Europe and Central Asia to reduce the impact of HIV and AIDS among vulnerable populations,” – the firm’s website states. It urges other companies to follow this example and support AFEW.

DoPro offers full public relations support for businesses working or willing to work in countries of Western Europe and Russia. AFEW extends its gratitude to DoPro and to Marcel Capray personally for this decision.

“We are pleased to get this help especially in the time of the general decrease of financial support to humanitarian organisations like us working in the field of HIV and AIDS,” – said Anke van Dam, acting executive director of AIDS Foundation East-West.

In 2012 AFEW will start implementing a 4.5-year project “Bridging the gaps: Health and Rights for Key Populations” in Ukraine, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. This project is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

AFEW will also start the prison reform project in Kyrgyzstan, which is supported by the European Union. And lastly, this year AFEW is expecting to conduct activities in the framework of the Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria project in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
