AFEW files official complaint against Dutch TV commercial

AIDS Foundation East-West is appalled by a Dutch commercial in which an energy firm advertises for a free beer dispenser. A website is shown in which Ukranian women are depicted in pornographic poses. Dutch women are advised to keep their men at home during the upcoming European soccer championship in order to prevent them from falling prey to those women. This commercial is an example of stereotyping women from Eastern European countries as call girls and sex workers. We are strongly against this.

Furthermore the commercial suggests a lack of respect for the depicted women. AFEW considers sex work as a respectable profession and women working in this profession should be treated accordingly.
