BRIDGE: SOCIAL SUPPORT OF PRISONERS BEFORE AND AFTER RELEASE

Assisting in the development of a systematic mechanism for social support of prisoners before and after release, as well as their subsequent rehabilitation.
Institutions that are involved in working with inmates in the transition period (SSEP, CEI, the NGO sector, etc.), decision-makers at the city, regional and national levels (including members of Kyrgyzstan’s Parliament).
Prisoners included in transition
Development of legal documents on effective measures to prepare prisoners for release and their subsequent reintegration;
Regular training of SSEP personnel at the training centre;
Expanded access of prisoners before and after release to quality legal, social and medical assistance.
Establishment of a Working Group to develop regulations to institutionalize social support mechanism for prisoners during the transition period;
Extensive discussion of the proposed documents with stakeholders;
Development of training courses on effective methods of work with prisoners in transition and human rights, as well as the introduction of such courses in the curriculum of the SSEP Training Centre;
Development and implementation of a series of training sessions on social reintegration of convicts in transition
Supporting 3 social bureaus and 2 social rehabilitation centers for persons released from prison, as well as the development of income-generating activities on their basis.
